MARTHA MIER
Martha Mier is an internationally recognized composer and clinician
who joined Alfred Publishing in 1989. Her educational piano music
for students on all levels has made her one of today's most popular
composers. Students in the United States, Australia, Canada, Europe,
and Japan enjoy playing her music, including the popular Jazz, Rags
and Blues series and the Romantic Impressions series.
An independent piano teacher in Lake City, Florida, Martha graduated
from Florida State University, where she was a member of Sigma Alpha
Iota, the national honorary music fraternity. In addition to her busy
teaching, and writing schedule, Martha has been active in church music
and as a professional accompanist. She is a member of the Music
Teachers National Association, the Florida State Music Teachers
Association, and the National Guild of Piano Teachers. Martha is a
state and nationally certified teacher of piano through these
professional organizations.
Martha is a frequent clinician and adjudicator, having presented
workshops for teachers at the national convention for the Music
Teachers National Association, as well as for the National Piano
Teachers Institute, and the World Piano Pedagogy Conference. In
November of 1999, Martha conducted a tour of Australia and New
Zealand, where she presented her own compositions and newly published
materials from Alfred Publishing.
Martha's composing talents were highlighted in the May 1995 issue
of Clavier magazine. Many of her solos and collections she composed
for Alfred Publishing were chosen for the 2001-2003 National
Federation of Music Clubs Junior Festival Bulletin.
