Chris, along with Margaret Goldston, are our adopted composers for the 2003-2004 school year. We had a recital on May 30th, 2004 for them.

Chris Goldston graduated from Northwestern University with a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy and from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. He lives in Washington, DC, where he teaches piano privately. Previously, Mr. Goldston lived in Chicago where he taught piano and composition at Sherwood Conservatory of Music.

In 1991, Mr. Goldston received the National Federation of Music Clubs Lynn Freeman Olson Composition Award for his first composition, Night Train. Since then, Mr. Goldston has several piano solos published by Alfred, including Jumping Jelly Beans and Red Hot Boogie, as well as his collection, Imprints. Additional solos written by Mr. Goldston are published by FJH Music Company.

Mr. Goldston has taught piano for over ten years and enjoys composing and arranging pieces for his students. Many of them have also created pieces of their own under his guidance and have received top prizes in state competitions. Mr. Goldston has been very active with student composition and served as Composition Chairman for the Illinois State Music Teachers Association.
